All of the eight Women’s Regional League 2022-23 campaigns are now underway after most kicked-off on Sunday 4 September.
EASTERN – Three in a row for Hatters
Premier – Luton Town made it three straight wins with a narrow 3-2 victory over Haringey Borough, tight games elsewhere too as Needham Market edged Bedford 4-3 aided by a Molly Hall brace and Royston Town defeated Stevenage 3-2. Bowers & Pitsea won 4-2 at Wroxham and AFC Sudbury put four past Kings Lynn Town. Tuesday night sees Stevenage host Colney Heath at The Lamex Stadium, kick-off 7.45pm.
1 North – St Ives Town edged Fakenham Town 3-2 to record a third successive win, Hannah Seymour-Shove twice on target. Yasmin Green’s double earned Yaxley Phoenix a 2-2 tie at Haverhill Rovers, AFC Dunstable defeated Newmarket Town 4-2 and Biggleswade United’s Haile Richards scored three of their seven against Wootton Blue Cross.
1 South – Kristina O’Connell hit a hat-trick as Wodson Park fought back from 1-0 down at the break to beat Grays Athletic 4-1. Lawford had Daisy Canny dismissed in the 90th minute of their 1-1 draw with Billericay Town Devs, results elsewhere were; East Bergholt United 2-0 Cheshunt, Hutton 3-1 AFC Sudbury Reserves
EAST MIDLANDS – Nomads’ super subs secure winning start
Premier – Anstey Nomads’ substitutes Katie Conner and Emily Sowler both found the net in a 3-2 win at Arnold Eagles, Basford United shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United, Notts County won 2-1 at Lincoln United and Chesterfield overcame Oughtibridge 3-1.
1 Central – West Bridgford sub Sophie Hardy was on target in a 4-3 thriller against Nottingham Trent University, Mansfield Hosiery Mills got a second-half winner in the 2-1 result at Notts County Devs. Ilkeston Town sank hosts Sherwood 5-1, while all Asfordby Amateurs goals came in the first-half of a 5-3 defeat of Dronfield Town.
1 North – All the points went to the away sides, as Sleaford Town’s Lauren Alderson got the only goal at SJR Worksop, Gainsborough Trinity’s Emily Murphy recorded a treble in a 5-1 success at Grimsby Borough and Grimsby Town also scored five times at Lincoln United Devs.
1 South – Northampton Town Devs came from behind to beat their Peterborough United counterparts 6-1, Thrapston Town’s Amelia Boddington and Emily Slough got two each in a 5-3 victory at Leicester City Ladies, Roade ran out 4-1 winners at Loughborough Foxes Vixens, Kettering Town beat Coalville Town helped by a Lauren Adams double.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Over 400 watch Dulwich win
Premier – Ebbsfleet United went top with a 6-1 sinking of Saltdean United seen by a crowd of 166, although over 400 watched Dulwich Hamlet defeat Sutton United 2-0. Dartford got the game’s only goal against Fulham in front of 180, Millwall Lionesses won 3-1 against Enfield Town, as did AFC Acorns at home to New London Lionesses.
1 North – Dorking Wanderers sent Leatherhead to a 7-0 defeat to win a third in a row, helped by a Cherelle Khassel hat-trick and backed by an attendance of 172. Clapton’s Ciara Monaghan came off the bench to give them a 2-1 win at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves, Richmond Park’s Tess Adlam scored all the goals in a 4-0 scoreline against Sport London E Benfica. Brentford beat Whyteleafe 3-0 with Chloe Logie finding the net twice, Denham United matched that outcome when hosting Hackney.
1 South – Charlotte Gurr top-scored with four as Hastings United hit Montpelier Villa 12-0, Ashford United are also on maximum points after three games having beaten Bromley 5-1. Herne Bay’s Lucy Page got an 85th-minte winner at Welling United, whose sub Ellie Cole received two cautions. Steyning Town beat Bexhill United with Abby Chriss at the double, results elsewhere were; Newhaven 4-0 Cray Valley, Eastbourne United 4-2 Maidstone United.
NORTH EAST – Hartlepool’s Robinson hits hat-trick in 3-2 victory
Premier – South Shields sub Jade Dryden scored a 75th-minute decider at Harrogate Town, Chester le Street Town won 3-1 at Wakefield, Wallsend BC were 5-3 winners over Redcar Town. Alnwick Town had a walkover at Blyth Town, who host Chester le Street on Thursday night, when Wallsend welcome South Shields.
1 North – Chester le Street United sub Jenny Ashton scored a crucial third to beat Bishop Auckland 3-2, Hartlepool United’s Atalia Robinson got all their goals to edge Spennymoor Town 3-2, Thornaby’s Sophie Curle and substitute Abigail Phillips shared the spoils in a 6-1 success at Hartlepool Pools Youth. Wallsend BC Reserves won 8-0 at Guisborough Town with three from Samantha Deverdics, Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves netted ten against West Allotment Celtic, while Washington had a walkover at Gateshead.

1 South – York Railway Institute’s Jodie Langstaff notched a treble in a 5-1 win at Bradford Park Avenue, Altofts won 3-0 at Barnsley Ladies. There were clear home wins for Farsley Celtic Juniors (8-1 v Sheffield Wednesday), Handsworth (5-2 v Sheffield United Foundation) and Ripon City (4-1 v Harworth Colliery).
NORTH WEST – Blackpool edge nine-goal thriller
Premier – Tranmere Rovers went top with a 2-1 success at Crewe Alexandra, FC United of Manchester’s five goals at West Didsbury & Chorlton was their third win on the spin. Salford City Lionesses were held 2-2 at home by Cheadle Town Stingers, as were Blackburn CSC by Mossley Hill Athletic. Curzon Ashton came through 5-2 at Darwen, Fleetwood Town Wrens just got the better of hosts Wigan Athletic 3-2.
1 North – Penwortham Town pipped hosts Morecambe 4-3 to move into first place, as Preston North End went down 3-2 at home to Haslingden and Workington Reds held Accrington Stanley 1-1. Blackpool’s Molly Kelly and Keisha Masterson each scored twice in a 5-4 victory at Bolton Wanderers, Carlisle United won 3-1 at Sir Tom Finney, Penrith put eight past Chorley Devs.
1 South – Bury AFC’s 5-0 win at Alder sent them clear at the top, as Warrington Wolves drew 2-2 at Northwich Vixens. Runcorn Linnets had a 3-1 result at Wythenshawe Amateurs, Poulton Vics posted a 7-2 victory at Altrincham and BRNESC beat Hindley 2-1.
SOUTHERN – Debutants Badshot Lea make strong start
Premier – Wycombe Wanderers were 1-0 winners at Winchester City Flyers, Ascot United beat Abingdon United 2-1 with Hannah Bennett’s decider, Abingdon Town defeated Oxford City 3-1, likewise Bournemouth Sports when hosting Eastleigh.
Division 1 North – Woodley United got the sole goal at Eversley & California, Kidlington and Milton United had 4-1 home wins over Caversham United and Long Crendon respectively, while Penn & Tylers Green’s game with Carterton was abandoned with them 5-1 up in the latter stages.
Division 1 South – Badshot Lea made an impressive regional league bow with a 3-0 win at Woking. Selsey Devs’ Rebecca Johnson netted two minutes into a 2-0 win over Abbey Rangers, Rushmoor ran out 4-2 victors at New Milton Town and AFC Stoneham beat Chichester City 4-1.
SOUTH WEST – Liskeard’s first fifth tier fixture finishes 4-4
Premier – A real goalfest in this division, Bristol Rovers beating Royal Wootton Bassett Town 6-4, Bishops Lydeard 7-2 winners over Poole Town with three for Imogen Miller, Liskeard Athletic’s Eve-Charlotte Moore scored three in the 4-4 draw with Forest Green Rovers, Ilminster Town hit Warminster Town for six, Sherborne Town 3-0 victor against Torquay United.

1 East – AEK Boco sub Lucy Atkinson netted three in a 5-3 victory over Middlezoy, Paulton Rovers took the points 3-2 at Weston super Mare, Pucklechurch Sports sank Stockwood Wanderers 3-0 and it finished 0-0 between Weymouth and Frome Town.
1 North – Frampton Rangers were held 1-1 by St Vallier, SGS Olveston United had a 2-1 result over Downend Flyers with the winner from Weronika Jozefowska.
1 West – Saltash United scored nine at Bideford, Feniton beat Budleigh Salterton 5-1 and Sticker stung Marine Academy Plymouth 4-0.
WEST MIDLANDS – Long Itchington win 4-3 on debut
Premier – Solihull Sporting were 3-1 winners at Coundon Court, Worcester City scored both of the goals at Burton Albion, Kidderminster Harriers and Shrewsbury Town shared six goals. Crusaders secured a 3-2 win against Sutton Coldfield Town, Lichfield City’s 2-1 result over Redditch United came with a late Donna Millward winner.
1 North – Walsall Wood won 4-1 at Darlaston Town, Coventry City had a similar outcome at home to Wyrley. Port Vale beat Tamworth 3-1, City of Stoke’s Lucy Marshall got a couple in defeating Lichfield City Reserves 3-2, Walsall Ladies’ Jessica Bate a double in a 2-2 home tie with AFC Telford United.
1 South – Bewdley Town beat Westfields with a Rea Marsh goal in front of a three-figure crowd, Long Itchington pipped Rugby Borough 4-3. Sedgley & Gornal United won 3-1 at Droitwich Spa, as did Coventry Sphinx at Kingfisher, while Knowle netted five past Rugby Town.
