Women’s Regional League Round-Up: Moneyfields pip Cherries on pens

Moneyfields pipped AFC Bournemouth on penalties to reach the Southern Women’s Regional League Subsidiary Cup final.

EASTERN – Royston beat group leaders

Group B – East Bergholt United got off the mark but with a walkover against Wodson Park.

Group C- Leigh Ramblers dropped their first points in a 4-1 defeat at Royston Town, Tally Miles, Charlotte South and Sammy Tinsley among the goals as the leaders were beaten. Haverhill Rovers were 2-1 winners away at Stevenage Development.

Group D – Wymondham Town went three points clear at the top after a 3-1 result at Needham Market, goals coming from Laura Nicholls, Rebecca Russell and Natasha Youngs.

EAST MIDLANDS – Thrapston edge eleven-goal thriller

League Cup: Derby County Academy got the only goal through Anya Bourne to eliminate Sleaford Town, Chesterfield knocked out Notts County 2-0, Northampton Town won 5-1 at Coalville Town Ravenettes after Georgia Tear’s quickfire brace, while Peterborough United had walkover against Rotherham United

League Plate: Thrapston Town just got the better of AFC Leicester in a 6-5 goal-fest, Amelia Boddington contributing a brace while Ella Needham’s hat-trick came in vain. Oughtibridge War Memorial put five past Leicester City Ladies, SJR Worksop beat Lincoln Moorlands-Railway 2-0 with Brooke Chapell and Ashleigh Galley on target.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Wasps win top-two clash

Group A – Eastbourne Town came away from Queens Park Rangers with a 5-3 victory, Shawna Harvey hitting a hat-trick and Ella Newman scoring twice. Dulwich Hamlet defeated Saltdean United 2-1 with goals by Ella Bonner and Saskia Philp.

Group B – New London Lionesses won 3-1 at Denham United to go top, Hackney’s first win came 4-1 at Fulham.

Group C – Sutton United made it two wins from two with a 2-1 scoreline against Herne Bay, Faye Butler with a first-half double. Whyteleafe drew 2-2 at home to Aylesford.

Group D – Crawley Wasps Development beat Parkwood Rangers 2-1 to replace them in pole position, Priscilla Martins netting the decider ten minutes from time.

NORTH EAST – Alnwick finish top of group

Subsidiary Cup Group A: Blyth Town came from behind to beat Sunderland West End 2-1. Alnwick Town came through 3-2 in a midweek tie at South Shields, which secured them top spot.

Group D: Altofts won the local derby with Wakefield Trinity 2-0, to take second spot. Harrogate Town hit Hepworth United 11-0 with Emily Topham netting four.

SOUTHERN – Moneyfields make final on pens

Subsidiary Cup – Moneyfields reached the final 3-2 on penalties following a goalless game at AFC Bournemouth, Lauren Sayler saving two spot-kicks. Abingdon Town had more straightforward progress with all four goals at New Milton Town, including two by Tiana Russell-Cartwright.
