The brilliant unbeaten form of the #YoungLionesses at the #U20WWC was halted at the semi-final stage by a very, very good Japan side, who were simply better on the day. Having gone 2-0 down in opening half-hour, England could not repeat their excellent comeback victories of previous games, finding the Young Nadeshiko too good on the ball and too stubborn in defence to breakdown.
It’s been a great adventure and Mo Marley’s charges have made tremendous strides over the past year, as well as earned plenty of fans along the way. They were understandably down at the final whistle in these images but they should hold their heads high and go into the 3rd/4th place match agains the hosts on Friday with confidence and pride.
