The Ynys Mon 2019 Tournament Organising Committee has announced host venues selected for this summer’s tournament, which acts as a replacement for the lack of football at the Island Games.

The Inter Games Tournament will be held between 15 and 22 June 2019 in Anglesey and is being organised due to the hosts of the 2019 Island Games, Gibraltar, being unable to run a tournament due to lack of pitches. As football is one of the most popular sports at the games it was decided to hold the matches elsewhere, albeit with the results not officially part of the Island Games history.

Ynys Mon 2019 Project Manager Gareth Parry said: “We’re delighted to be able to confirm the host venues for fixtures and training sessions at the Ynys Mon 2019 tournament. We said at the very beginning that we wanted to showcase everything that our island has to offer, and in selecting 12 venues from all corners of the island, this summer’s competitors will see first-hand some of the very best the island has to offer in terms of facilities and community spirit.”

While ten islands compete in the men’s section, there are two women’s groups of three teams each.
