Former Liverpool striker Yana Daniels will reunite with Matt Beard after signing for third-tier side Burnley.
The Belgium international left Liverpool earlier this summer after her contract with the Reds expired.
She joins a Burnley side who enter their first season as a fully professional club.
The Clarets will play in the FA Women’s National League North in 2025-26, after missing out on promotion to Women’s Super League 2 last season.
She will reunite with Beard who was appointed as Burnley manager earlier this summer, after he was sacked by Liverpool in February.
Daniels has played 45 times for Belgium, but was not included in their squad for Euro 2025.
The tournament was won by England, who betting sites have already placed as second-favourites to win the trophy again in 2029.
Why did Yana Daniels join third-tier Burnley?
Yana Daniels in her first interview with Burnley, highlighted the club’s ‘big plans’ as why a move to the Women’s National League North side felt like the right one for her.
She said: “I like the settings of the training ground and Burnley have such big plans going forwards with the women’s team, so the move felt right.
“England feels like home to me now and gives me the opportunity to enjoy life outside of football, which I think is really important.
“The people here have been really friendly too, and it feels like a family club.”
Burnley are keen to play in the upper echelons of English football.
This was shown by their failed bid to take Blackburn’s place in WSL2, after the club decided to withdraw from the second-division in English football.
Burnley Women finished fourth in the Women’s National League North last season, finishing 12 points behind Nottingham Forest who were promoted.
