#WU17EURO : Germany crush England in semi-finals

England were beaten 8-0 in the UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship semi-finals by a rampant Germany.

John Griffiths’ side conceded three times in a seven-minute first half spell, as Germany upped their chase of a third successive title.

An own-goal by Kayla Rendell broke the deadlock on 23 minutes, Shekiera Martinez soon got the second and Leonie Köster’s deflected effort from distance beat the young Lionesses’ goalkeeper.

Martinez went on to claim a hat-trick, while Ivana Fuso and Vanessa Fudalla got one each, with Köster netting her second.

There is still much for England to play for in Lithuania, however, as they face Spain or Finland in Monday’s third place play off, with the winners of that joining the two finalists in qualifying for the U-17 World Cup.
