Sunderland 1-1 Reading (Att: 699)
Sunderland began their campaign by rescuing a point at home to Reading, as the Royals also got off the mark.
Reading’s Grace Moloney made a fine save from a Beth Mead header but it was the Royals who took the lead 4 minutes before the break. Jade Boho-Sayo won a free-kick and Lois Roche got a touch on Helen Ward’s strike to wrong foot keeper Rachel Laws.
Mead took seconds to level after the restart, rounding the keeper to score and then had an effort cleared off the line in the 50th minute.
Reading went close to restoring their lead through Roche, forcing an impressive stop from Laws.
Keira Ramshaw was denied by Moloney after a one-two with Mead and with a couple of minutes to go, Laws tipped over an Emma Follis effort.

Bristol City 0-0 Sheffield FC (Att: 523)
Bristol City were left frustrated by being held goalless at home by Sheffield FC, who went away with their first point in the league despite failing to score again.
The visitors lost both Dan Cox and Jodie Michalska to injury in the first 32 minutes and City forced successive corners moments before half time but Carla Ward headed the second one clear.
Tatiana Pinto was close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts from the second-half kick off.
The Vixens lost forward Millie Farrow with a suspected dislocated shoulder and were unable to make the breakthrough but remain unbeaten.
