Fleetwood Town have welcomed North West League Premier Division side Blackpool Wren Rovers under their wing.
The club say they already host four girls teams under Fleetwood Town Juniors, as well as a development squad with well over 100 girls participating.
Their new open aged side will now play their home matches at Town’s Poolfoot Farm base, under the name of Fleetwood Town Wrens.
On the news, the club’s Chief executive Steve Curwood, told fleetwoodtownfc.com: “The club were keen to build on the comprehensive girls’ football provision already delivered at Poolfoot by both Fleetwood Town Juniors and Fleetwood Town Community Trust.
“This now provides a pathway for girls to play from the very youngest ages all the way through to competitive open age football.
“The club were keen to ensure that Poolfoot and the Fleetwood Town family can deliver opportunities for all girls at any level.
