There were three changes in leadership of the Women’s Regional League divisions, as Cheltenham Town Development, FC United and Moneyfields all went top.
EASTERN – Bedford go fourth
PREMIER – Bedford are up to fourth after a 3-1 win at Royston Town whom they overtake in the table.
EAST MIDLANDS – Chesterfield up to second
PREMIER – Northampton Town host Kettering Town on Wednesday 22 January, 7.30 ko at Spencer FC.
1 NORTH – Leaders Hykeham Town put nine past Lincoln Moorlands-Railway in midweek with eight different scorers. Chesterfield went second with a 4-1 defeat of Arnold Town, Worksop Town stormed to a 12-1 victory at Grimsby Borough where there were hat-tricks for Kirsty Hadley and Ellie Chandler.
1 SOUTH – Thrapston Town are level on points with mid-table Ilkeston Town after beating them 4-1.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Ten in a row for Worthing
PREMIER – Ashford Town (Middlesex) are fourth after a 3-1 result at Eastbourne Town, Denham United returned from Saltdean United 5-2 victors
GREATER LONDON – Sutton United rose to third with a 5-1 success away to Spurs 3rds, Faye Butler with three of their goals but teammate Darcy Wells suffered ligament damage.
SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Worthing won for the tenth successive match, Gemma Worsfold getting a double in the 3-2 result at Crawley Wasps DS. Third-placed Parkwood Rangers beat Phoenix Sports 3-1 with the help of a goal each from substitutes Jamie Leigh Dixon-Hawkey and Jemma Roodenburgh, Herne Bay hit hosts Newhaven 8-1 as Chloe Woolaway scored three, while Katherine Chappell got the only goal at Eastbourne United as Hassocks took the points.
LEAGUE CUP Q-F – Lewes Foundation will visit Herne Bay in the semi-finals having knocked out Ashford Ladies 4-2, aided by a brace from substitute Chloe Nye.
NORTH EAST – Wednesday rescue point against Trinity
1 NORTH – It’s ten wins on the trot now for Sunderland West End with a 4-1 scoreline against Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves. Second-placed Lumley just got the better of Chester le Street Town Development 4-3 as Sarah Hutchieson contributed twice and Alnwick Town beat Blyth Town 2-0 to go third.
1 SOUTH – Wakefield Trinity stayed goal-difference ahead of Sheffield Wednesday at the top after a 1-1 draw away to the Owls. Julia Hogan had the visitors ahead but Sophie Eyre equalised for Wednesday.
NORTH WEST – FC United takeover from Tranmere
PREMIER – FC United of Manchester took over at the top from Tranmere Rovers with a 2-0 win in the meeting with Merseyrail.
ARGYLE SPORTS KIT LEAGUE CUP 1ST RD – There were 2-1 wins for Mossley Hill Athletic over Fleetwood Town Wrens and Salford City Lionesses against Penrith, Penwortham Town went one better in eliminating Wythenshawe Amateurs, Blackpool hit five past Workington Reds and West Didsbury & Chorlton sank Morecambe Reserves 7-0.
SOUTHERN – Moneyfields knock Cherries off the top
PREMIER – Moneyfields 6-2 scoreline at Warsash Wssps included a treble by Sheree Bell-Jack and saw them take top spot from AFC Bournemouth on goal-difference. Winchester City Flyers and Newbury shared four goals, Woodley United equalised to tie 1-1 with Ascot United.
ONE – Top of the table Abingdon Town hit six at Tilehurst Panthers, Abbey Rangers rose to second with a 3-0 defeat of Alton, Southampton Women’s Reserves had a good 4-1 win at AFC Bournemouth Development as Paris Payne got two of their three goals scored from the bench.
SOUTH WEST – Cheltenham Town Development new leaders
PREMIER – Bideford netted eight at struggling Torquay United as Bethany Ellis notched a hat-trick, helping her side go up two places to sixth.
1 NORTHERN – Cheltenham Town Development’s 6-2 win at Downend Flyers put them in pole position, which Frampton Rangers conceded after crashing 4-0 at home to Bristol Ladies Union, for whom Ellie Preece scored tree times to send her side second. Weston Mendip’s Amy Clark accounted for three of their goals in a 4-1 result over 4-1 AEK Boco, while Almondsbury got the only goal at Oldland Abbotonians.
1 EASTERN – Swindon Town Development are on the heels of second-placed Frome Town whom they downed 5-1 with a Abby Picton treble. There was late drama as Swindon Supermarine’s Lani Dickinson completed a hat-trick with two goals in the last 3 minutes for a thrilling 4-3 victory at Laverstock & Ford.
WEST MIDLANDS – Sandwell rise to third
PREMIER – Crusaders moved up to seventh having taken the points 4-0 away to a winless Knowle.
1 NORTH – Sandwell’s Rachel Green got the winner in a 2-1 result against Port Vale that put them third, Shifnal Town are fourth following a 3-2 victory over Solihull Sporting.
