How England and Spain reached the final
England’s road to the Euro 2025 final has been far from smooth.
The Lionesses have used up the majority of their nine lives across their last two games against Sweden and England.
England came from two goals down to take the quarter-final against Sweden to extra-time.
They were then twice on the brink of exit during the penalty shootout, but Sweden failed to take their chances, and England reached the semi-finals.
Against Italy, the Lionesses needed a 96th-minute equaliser from Michelle Agyemang to take the game to extra-time.
Chloe Kelly then scored a rebound from her own penalty in the 119th minute to book England’s place in the final.
There was no drama for Spain when they beat Switzerland 2-0 in the quarter-final.
However, Spain struggled to score against Germany in the semi-final with the game goalless going into extra-time.
Aitana Bonmati sealed the win for Spain after spotting Ann-Katrin Berger off her line at the near post, to send Spain through to Sunday’s final against England.

What is the team news ahead of the Euro 2025 final?
The Lionesses will await news on Lauren James’ availability after she was replaced at half-time during the win over Italy with an ankle issue.
Beth Mead will be the likely player to come in for James if she is unavailable.
Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly are pushing for starts after game-changing performances against Sweden and Italy.
Sarina Wiegman will also have to decide whether to stick or twist with Esme Morgan over Jess Carter.
Laia Aleixandri will be back in contention for Spain after missing the semi-final due to suspension.
Athenea del Castillo is making a push for the starting XI after scoring against Switzerland, and playing the assist for Aitana Bonmati’s winner in the semi-final.
England Women predicted XI: Hampton; Bronze, Williamson, Morgan, Greenwood; Toone, Walsh, Stanway; James, Russo, Hemp
Spain Women predicted XI: Coli; Battle, Paredes, Aleixandri, Carmona; Bonmati, Guijarro, Putellas; Caldentey, Gonzalez, Pina
England vs Spain prediction
The Women’s Euro 2025 final is upon and it will be a rematch of the 2023 World Cup final.
Spain beat England two years ago and remain the favourites to lift the trophy in Basel on July 27th.
For the most part, they have made the tournament look easy. Though Germany showed that a strong defence can keep them at bay.
It also proved that England will have to be on high alert for the entirety of the game after just one lapse of concentration from the German goalkeeper was punished by the world’s best player, Aitana Bonmati,
England will ideally need to cut out the mistakes which almost brought their Euro 2025 stay to an end against both Sweden and Italy.
There are arguments that they are fortunate to be playing in the final, but in defence their never-say-die attitude at the Euros is something to be hugely admired.
Both sides have tremendous depth on the bench so this has the potential to go all the way.
Spain might be favourites but given how England reached the final, there is a feeling that the Lionesses could just go all the way.
So here at SheKicks, we predict that England will win on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
According to the UK’s best betting sites, England are 11/1 to win on penalties while a 2-2 draw in regular time is 13/1.
Prediction: England 2-2 Spain (Lionesses win on penalties) – 11/1 for England to win via a penalty shootout

England vs Spain betting tips
- England vs Spain betting tip 1: Spain to be ahead at half-time, draw after 90 minutes – 12/1
The first of our betting tips for England vs Spain, is for Spain to be winning at half-time, and the game to be a draw after 90 minutes.
It’s no secret that England have been slow to get off the marks during the knockout phase of Euro 2025.
They found themself 2-0 down after 78 minutes vs Sweden and 1-0 down after 95 minutes against Italy.
However, the Lionesses always find a way to get back into the match.
With the likes of Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly likely to come off the bench, England could just mount another comeback against Spain.
- England vs Spain betting tip 2: Both Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo to score or assist – 3.62/1
Alessia Russo has had a relatively quiet Euro 2025 on the goalscoring front, but she is a big game player and the final is where she could light up the stage.
On top of that, she has three assists to her name at Euro 2025 showing that she can set her teammates up.
Meanwhile, Chloe Kelly is another player for the big occasion, coming off the bench to make a difference against both Sweden and Italy.
She also scored the winning goal for England at the Euro 2022 final.
The Arsenal player will be someone that Spain need to be very ware of at the Euro 2025 showpiece event.
- England vs Spain betting tip 3: Aitana Bonmati to score or assist – 13/10
Aitana Bonmati is the best player in the world and she will do her best to light up the stage at the Euro 2025 final.
She delivered for Spain when her country needed her in the semi-final victory over Germany.
Although SheKicks predicts an England victory, we expect Bonmati will punish England at some point during the contest on Sunday.
