Algeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia are to join hosts Ghana at the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria completed the line-up on Monday when hitting Gambia for six for a 7-0 aggregate victory. Desire Operanozie netted four and Asisat Oshoala a brace in the reigning champions’ home leg.
South Africa similarly added a 6-0 scoreline to a 1-0 away win, Jermaine Seoposenwe and Chantelle Esau both scoring twice as they reached the finals at the expense of Lesotho.
Mali’s 2-2 tie with Ivory Coast would prove invaluable, as they were held 0-0 at home but progressed on the away goals rule.
Zambia also edged through narrowly despite being beaten 1-0 at home by Zimbabwe, as a late Barbara Banda effort saw them win the return match 2-1, their second away goal being decisive.
Equatorial Guinea overturned a 2-1 first leg deficit against Kenya to win 3-2 overall.
Algeria went to Ethiopia with a 3-1 advantage and scored three times again to go through 6-3, while Cameroon posted two 5-0 wins over Congo Brazzaville.
The final tournament will run from 17 November to 1 December 2018, with the top three teams qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
