Wolves Women and Rugby Borough lead FAWNL Premier Divisions

Following fixtures on Wednesday, the FA Women’s National League Northern and Southern Premier tables are led by Rugby Borough and Wolves respectively.

NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Stoke City 3-5 Liverpool Feds (Att: 102)
Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 Stourbridge

Wolves went top of the table with victory over Stourbridge. Emma Johnson bagged a swift second-half brace as Liverpool Feds won an eight-goal thriller to move level on points with second-placed Nottingham Forest. Stoke’s Molly Holder received a second yellow card for dissent in stoppage-time.

SOUTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Hashtag United 3-2 Ipswich Town (Att: 171)
London Bees 0-3 Milton Keynes Dons
Rugby Borough 1-0 Oxford United (Att: 192)

Rugby Borough edged Oxford United with an Angelina Nixon effort to lead the table on goal-difference from Hashtag United, who also have three straight wins following their victory over Ipswich. MK Dons climbed to third with three goals at London Bees.

DIVISION 1 MIDLANDS

Leafield Athletic 1-3 Sutton Coldfield Town
Loughborough Lightning 3-0 Notts County (Att: 126)
Peterborough United 4-1 Lincoln City (Att: 317)
Sporting Khalsa 2-3 Boldmere St Michaels (Att: 55)

Loughborough Lightning sit top after a 3-0 win over Notts County, Peterborough United also won by a three-goal margin and rise to second spot. Newcomers  Sutton Coldfield Town made it two wins from three, while Boldmere’s victory at Sporting Khalsa came despite a red card for goalscorer Jade Formaston with Gabriella Mala netting twice.

DIVISION 1 NORTH

Middlesbrough 1-0 Durham Cestria (Att: 307)
Stockport County 0-1 Barnsley (Att: 171)
York City 1-3 Leeds United (Att: 615)

Barnsley and Leeds extended their winning starts to a third game, the Tykes are top after a single-goal success at Stockport County, United second having win in front of 615 at York City. Middlesbrough claimed a first win with the only goal of the game against Durham Cestria.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH EAST

AFC Wimbledon 0-2 Ashford Town (Att: 81)
Haywards Heath Town 0-2 Worthing (Att: 193)

Ashford Town defeated the Dons to go top with maximum points from three matches, Worthing also won away by a similar score to continue their winning opening to the season.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH WEST

AFC Bournemouth 4-0 Southampton Women (Att: 367)
Bridgwater United 6-1 Portishead Town
Exeter City 7-0 Torquay United
Moneyfields 16-0 Selsey

It’s three wins from three for leaders AFC Bournemouth and Exeter City, the Cherries seeing off Southampton Women and the Grecians putting seven past Torquay United with four for Jenna Markham and three by Sara Stacey. Moneyfields made it a tough night for Selsey with a glut of goals, Bridgwater United hit Portishead for six to get off the mark in style.
