Following the resignation of James Astle, Wolves Women have appointed former Reserves Manager Trevor Mullings as Manager of the first team.
Shortly after the appointment, Matt Sacco caught up with “Trev” to discuss his visions for the team, and what he hopes to bring to the squad.
You saw a few games last season, what did you make of the squad?
I saw a few games last season, and the players that I have inherited have their own qualities and are talented footballers. There is still work to be done, and I’m always on the lookout to add quality to the squad.
What can we expect to see from your side and what are you hoping to bring to the team?
You can expect to see more of a passing game, more attacking, with the ball played on the floor, but with the understanding of when to play direct. I want the players to be unafraid and show the willingness to try different things in the appropriate area of the pitch, to express themselves which in turn will bring belief.
How do you like your teams to play?
I would like our teams to play a short passing game but know when to play the ball long and try to hit teams on a quick counter attack. However, we must not over play.
Expectations for new season?
My expectations for the new season are to finish above mid table. I would like to get off to a good start by taking seven points from the first 12 available, and a good cup run. I believe that this is achievable. I am really looking forward to working with this group of players and staff, and above all to enjoy my time here and be successful.
