It’s only early July and sad to see a team such as Whitley Bay unable to field a side for the forthcoming season, especially after a couple of notable performances in the SSE WFA Cup last term.
A statement on the club’s website says;
‘Having lost several players at the end of last season due to University, work commitments, moving out of the area, injury and normal wastage facing all clubs, we have come to the point where numbers are so critical that we are unable to form a squad to sustain us through the season
The Club was formed in 2005 and we have had a number of successes with our First team, Development team, Reserves and Under 16s, filling the club’s cabinet with a dozen trophies but more importantly, providing playing opportunities for 100s of women and girls over the years
We may be back at some point in the future but for now it’s the end of this particular journey.’
She Kicks hopes to see Whitley Bay return to the field sooner rather than later.
