Manchester City went second in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with a 3-0 victory over Manchester United.

City took the lead midway through the first half with a Lucy Bronze half-volley, after United failed to clear a corner.

The Reds went close with a set-piece of their own soon after but Hayley Ladd dragged her effort wide.

Ellen White’s overhead kick was gathered by United keeper Mary Earps but Casey Stoney’s side lost Leah Galton to injury before the break.

Moments after the restart, White was again denied by Earps and although Christen Press then had three chances for the Reds, Lauren Hemp doubled the lead following up Earps parry of Kelly’s strike.

Caroline Weir wrapped up the win in the last ten minutes, with a clever turn and even better chip to make it 3-0.
