Watford Women have signed Shauna Vassell from Norwegian top tier side Stabæk and Portsmouth’s Evie Gane on a dual-registration.

Right-back Vassell is a former England U-17 international, who made 17 appearances in the Championship for Charlton Athletic, winning the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Year award.

Also able to play further forward, Vassell will be available for selection against her former club on 6 February.

Evie Gane is a former Wales U-17 and U-19 international, who has previously played for Reading, Oxford United, Aston Vila and London Bees.

She was almost ever-present with the Bees in the last Championship campaign, while becoming a key component of the Portsmouth side this term.

Able to play at centre-back, full-back or in a more advanced position, the Hornets believe the 22-year-old will be a much-valued asset to Gifton Noel-Williams’ squad.
