Jayne Ludlow was pleased with the performance, telling faw.cymru: “We’re playing against a team who are on the up, who have qualified for a major competition for the first time in their history and for us to come out here and compete aswell as we did, i’m really happy.

“We need to adjust structurally to ensure we get a little bit more of the ball but it could have been a 2-0 result against one the top teams. It’s a Great result for us, two goals and a win.

“The really nice thing about the game and all the games we’ve been playing recently, we can make changes whether their 16/17 year olds or whether their 29 year olds, the girls are coming in and their doing the job that they need to do for us. As a squad, as a team it’s developing us and we’re growing.

“I’m sure Portugal come a few days time will give us a different type of test. I’m sure Portugal wouldn’t have been happy with the result today but they have a great squad, maybe there will be different type of competition next game.”

Wales face Portugal in their second International Friendly on Sunday 11 June, kick-off 11am.
