US Women’s National Team players have reached an agreement with the United States Soccer Federation over the Equal Pay campaign.
The six-year legal battle eventually brought about the new deal in which the USWNT players are promised $24 million, plus bonuses that match those of the US men’s team.
While the $22 million is a long way short of the figure sought in damages, the USSF also agreed to establish a fund of $2 million to help with careers after football and growing the sport for women.
An equal rate of pay for the women’s and men’s national teams is to include World Cup bonuses, subject to separate collective bargaining agreements.
