Trio promoted to FAWNL after winning Women’s Regional Leagues

Northampton Town, Stourbridge and York City are all promoted to the FAWNL after clinching Women’s Regional Leagues Premier Division titles.

EASTERN – Wymondham do the double

League Cup – Wymondham Town completed the double with a 2-1 win over Wroxham in the final. They still have the Norfolk Cup to play for on 25 May.

Challenge Cup – Needham Market beat 4-2 Barking in a group game, as Molly Hall contributed a double.

EAST MIDLANDS – Northampton Town promoted to fourth tier

Premier – Northampton Town ran riot in the second half of a midweek match with Rise Park, scoring nine times in an 11-1 result as Gracie Williams got four and Alexandra Dick three. They then tied up the title by beating Lincoln United 2-0 with efforts from Leah Cudone and substitute Charlie Cooper. Oughtibridge WM were 4-0 winners at Rotherham United on Thursday, following that up with a 7-1 success over Leicester City LFC, while Mansfield Town’s 4-2 victory at Loughborough Students sealed fourth place for the Stags.

1 North – SJR Worksop beat fourth-placed Grimsby Borough 3-0 to go level on points with them, Sherwood condemned Cleethorpes Town to last place with a Zoe Meyrick goal.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Sutton United going up, Dartford win the Cup 

1 North –  Sutton United sealed top spot with an 11-0 score line against Clapham United, Olivia Watson and Darcy Wells both netting three times. Dorking Wanderers defeated Dulwich Hamlet Reserves 6-3 and could pip the to the runners-up spot, while Watford DS won 3-0 at Sport London E Benfica.

1 South – Herne Bay got the only goal at home to Welling United in midweek to take fourth spot from them, Elena Brock on target in front on a crowd of 112. They then finished up with a 3-1 victory at Newhaven. Hastings United’s Georgia Tibble hit a double hat-trick during their 11-1 result at Bexhill United.

League Cup – Dartford defeated Hackney 2-1 in the final, Paris Smith with the decider after Shaunni Griffiths’ opener had been cancelled out.

NORTH EAST – Blyth Town and York City celebrate success

Premier – While York City were edging Redcar Town on penalties in the North Riding Cup final, they also became league champions thanks to South Shields’ 3-1 win at Ossett United. Wakefield Trinity needed a 90th-minute Emily Heckler goal for their 3-2 win at Farsley Celtic FC, Hartlepool United were 3-0 winners at Sheffield Wednesday.

1 North – Blyth Town coasted to the title with a 10-0 midweek win at lowly Prudhoe Town, Steph Ord accounting for half their total. Chester le Street United sank hosts Washington 7-1 with four from Rebecca Hansen, Boro Rangers took the points 5-1 at West Allotment Celtic and Guisborough Town beat Prudhoe Town 4-1 to avoid last place at their visitors expense.

1 South – Barnsley FC Ladies finished fourth following a 5-2 victory at Millmoor.

SOUTH WEST – Sherborne lift County Cup

Premier – Sherborne Town drew 0-0 at Bishops Lydeard, after defeating Weymouth 4-0 in the Dorset Cup Final during the week.

1 East – Warminster Town were 3-1 winners against Frome Town, half Keynsham Town Reserves’ six goals at Chipping Sodbury Town were scored by Vicky Vipond.

1 West – Liskeard Athletic ended a successful campaign with a 10-1 win at Helston Athletic.

WEST MIDLANDS – Stourbridge league champions

Premier – Stourbridge hit hosts Lye Town for six to secure the championship, taking them out of the reach of their rivals. Sutton Coldfield Town did what they could to stay in contention with a 3-1 result over Coventry Sphinx but Lichfield City were held 4-4 at Coundon Court, whose Natasha Miles got the only second-half goal. Elsewhere, Redditch United got three goals and as many points at Tamworth.

1 North –  Shifnal Town claimed the runners-up spot with a 9-0 score against Coventry City, Jenna Boddison with three of the goals.

League Cup – Shrewsbury Town reached the final with a 4-1 victory at Walsall Wood, set up by Madison Jones early brace.
