Tottenham vs West Ham preview

Both Tottenham and West Ham finished near the drop zone last season and this year they will be hoping for much more.

Spurs have had a very quiet summer and have only made one signing after what was a disappointing campaign.

Toko Koga joined Tottenham from Feyenoord on a four-year deal. The teenager has already featured for Spurs in pre-season and has excited fans early on.

Spurs enjoyed a positive pre-season with two wins out of three including a seven goal thriller against Arsenal.

Despite not making many signings this year, Tottenham will be full of confidence after their pre-season and they could get their season off to a fast start.

While Tottenham were quiet in the transfer window, West Ham were one of the busiest clubs in the WSL this summer.

The Hammers let nine players go after last season but they also signed five new stars ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Sarah Brasero, Yu Endo, Ffion Morgan, Katelin Talbert and Leila Wandeler have all already featured for West Ham in pre-season.

West Ham have beat both Sparta Prague and Liverpool during pre-season but fell to Arsenal in their final test.

Tottenham vs West Ham team news

Tottenham’s only signing of the summer, Toko Koga, is in line to start her first competitive game on Sunday.

Bethany England is fit once again and should start Tottenham’s first game of the season as captain once again.

As for the rest of the team, Spurs could start a very similar lineup to the one they finished last season with after a quiet transfer window.

West Ham on the other hand will look very different to last season when they step onto the field on Sunday.

Rehanne Skinner’s first lineup of the season will give a good indication for the rest of the campaign and plenty of summer signings could get the nod.

Yu Endo is the only signing who started West Ham’s final pre-season game and the former Urawa Red Diamonds could make her competitive debut against Spurs on Sunday.

Predicted lineups

Tottenham: Kop; Hunt, Koga, Rybrink, Dennis; Spence, Oroz, Thomas; England, Naz, Graham.

West Ham: Szemic; Nystrom, Zadorsky, Hanshaw, Piubel ; Endo, Siren, Gorry; Ueki, Martinez, Asseyi.

Tottenham vs West Ham prediction

West Ham won two of their three meetings against Tottenham last season including in the League Cup which saw Spurs eliminated.

Tottenham edged their clash at home in the league but another close game can be expected this weekend.

With Spurs having a quiet summer, we fancy West Ham to cause an upset away from home on the opening day against a vulnerable side.

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 West Ham
