Tottenham midfielder Drew Spence has been rewarded with a new long-term contract after her excellent start to the season.

Drew Spence signs new Tottenham contract

Drew Spence has played an integral part for a Tottenham side who have shown massive improvement since the appointment of Martin Ho.

The 33-year-old has started nine games for Spurs who have taken 19 points so far this season, just one fewer than they did in the entirety of the 2024-25 campaign.

After putting pen to paper on her new deal, Spence said: “I’m really happy. I feel so comfortable here at the Club and I can see where it’s progressing to. I can see that progression and it shows in our results so far.

“It feels like a family. The feeling amongst the girls is great and we’re learning every day. It’s been a massive six months for us, and we have to keep taking these steps.”

Martin Ho insists Spence adds “huge value” to Tottenham

Speaking to the club’s website, Tottenham head coach explained why Spence “fully earned” her new contract.

He said: “What sets Drew apart is not just how she plays, but how she behaves. She leads by example every single day.

“Her work ethic is unwavering, her competitiveness is infectious and her willingness to take responsibility has become a benchmark for others. Her personality carries weight in this group, she brings experience, honesty and a calm authority that strengthens the entire environment.

“She adds huge value to our young players who look to her, and equally to our senior players who respect her presence and consistency. Drew is a connector in the dressing room, a driver on the pitch and a person who embodies what we want this club to represent.

“This new deal isn’t just a reward for her performances, it’s a statement about her growth, her leadership, and her importance to the future of this team.”

Spence has helped Tottenham to fifth in the WSL table, just two points behind Chelsea in second.

Spurs will also be boosted in January with the arrival of Signe Gaupset from SK Brann.

Spence’s Tottenham career

Spence joined Tottenham in 2022 after 14 years with London rivals Chelsea.

During her time with Chelsea, she won five WSL titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups.

Since joining Tottenham, she has scored ten goals in 75 appearances for the club.

Her new contract comes off an excellent performance against Aston Villa, where she provided an assist for Olivia Holdt’s 95th-minute equaliser.

The win was marred, however, by Jess Naz’s ACL injury, which will keep the England forward out for the rest of the season.
