Tottenham extend Luana Bühler contract despite undergoing knee surgery

Luana Buhler agrees to one-year contract extension with Tottenham women

Tottenham women have rewarded one of their most consistent players with a new contract despite Luana Bühler undergoing knee surgery this summer.

The Switzerland international was ruled out of her home Euros after suffering from an injury before the tournament.

Luana Bühler signs new Tottenham contract

A recurring knee injury bothered Luana Bühler throughout the Euro 2025 buildup and the defender wasn’t able to make the tournament.

Instead of playing in Switzerland the 29-year-old underwent knee surgery this summer.

Although she was forced into surgery, Bühler assured fans that her injury wasn’t as serious as ACL damage.

Without the experienced Bühler in their camp the tournament hosts struggled at the Euros and were eliminated at the quarter-final stage. Switzerland are currently long-shots to win Euro 2029 at 20/1 with betting sites.

Bühler joined Tottenham from Hoffenheim in 2023 and since moving to North London Bühler has played 30 games for Spurs.

The defender has scored just one goal during her time with the club so far.

Who have Tottenham signed this summer?

Tottenham have been one of the quietest WSL teams in this summer’s transfer window having made just one signing so far.

Spurs added Japanese defender Toko Koga to their ranks at the beginning of July.

Koga joined Tottenham from Feyenoord for an undisclosed fee after spending two years in the Vrouwen Eredivisie.

While they haven’t been very active in the market so far, there is still plenty of time for Tottenham to do business before the new season with the window closing at 23:00 BST on Thursday, 4 September.

Spurs kick off their WSL campaign on September 7th with an early kick off against London rivals West Ham.
