#TON2018 ?: BRA 2-1 JAP (29 July)

Late goals decided the outcome of this second round Tournament of Nations tie between teams currently ranked 6th (Japan) and 7th (Brazil) in the world. Playing in hot conditions in the Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut, it was Marta (who else?) who finally opened the scoring in the 76th minute, before fellow forward Beatriz added a neat finish for what turned out to be the winning goal in the 90th minute. Japan were not done though, Rika Masuya’s smart diving header pulling back a consolation goal, three minutes into stoppage time. (Images: Daniela Porcelli/@joerdeli1)
