Rianna Dean scored after only 8 minutes for the Gunners with a tap in following a save from Lauren Santoro and Royals’ appeals for handball being turned down.
Chloe Dixon sent the final into the extra half-hour with an equaliser on the break after 85 minutes.
The clash exploded with six minutes to go as Sheffield FC’s Nicole Kemp was shown a second yellow card and 2 minutes later Dean restored the advantage when breaking through to lift the ball over the out-rushing keeper.
Sheffield FC were down to nine in added time when Dixon was shown a straight red card, with Arsenal’s Charlotte Devlin receiving the same punishment and three other cautions being made.
