The group stage of Women’s Euro 2025 has come to a close and a host of records have already been set at the tournament in Switzerland.
Across the 24 matches already held, goals have been scored at a rate like not seen before, while new attendance records show the increasing popularity of women’s football.
Below, we take a look at 11 records that have been broken or matched during Women’s Euros 2025.
Tournament records broken at Euro 2025
Most goals in a group stage – 89
Euro 2025 is the third Women’s Euros tournament to feature 16 teams.
The 78 goals scored at Euro 2022 looked difficult to beat – especially when there were scorelines including England 8-0 Norway.
However, Euro 2025 in Switzerland sailed past that total with 89 goals. That is largely thanks to the likes of Spain who netted 14 times, and France and England who both scored 11 goals.
Euro 2025 is just six goals off matching the total amount of goals for Euro 2022.
Most goals in a single group – 29 (Group D)
Group D at Euro 2029 was a goal-fest with England and France both scoring 11 goals each.
The Netherlands netted five goals, while Wales scored two in their first major international tournament.
Group D’s tally of 29 was five better than the previous record which was Group C at Euro 2022. That group three years ago featured the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal and Switzerland.
Most goals on a single matchday – 14 (Group D, Matchday 3)
Nearly half of the 29 goals scored in Group D were scored on the final matchday.
England beat Wales 6-1, while France came from behind to beat the Netherlands 5-2.
Euro 2025: Team records
Most different players scoring in a single game for one team – England (6 vs Wales)
Spain, against Belgium, became the third team in Women’s Euros history to have different scorers in a game with Alexia Putellas, Irene Paredes, Esther Gonzalez, Mariona Caldentey and Claudia Pina.
England though set the record in their 6-1 defeat of Wales with six different scorers.
Georgia Stanway, Ella Toone, Lauren Hemp, Alessia Russo, Beth Mead and Aggie Beever-Jones all found the back of the net against Wales.
Most goals in a group stage – Spain (14 – matching England’s total from Euro 2022)
England scored 14 goals in the group stage at Euro 2022, breaking the previous record by three.
Spain matched that total at Euro 2025 with five goals against Portugal, six vs Belgium, and three against Italy.
According to the UK’s top betting sites, Spain are favourites to win Euro 2025.
Spain will likely need to go all the way if they are to match England’s overall record of 22 goals at a single tournament.
The Latest goal to decide qualification to knockout stage – Switzerland (92nd minute vs Finland)
Euro 2025 hosts Switzerland looked to be heading out of their own tournament after Finland took a 1-0 lead thanks to a 79th-minute penalty.
However, Switzerland sparked hysteria from the home support after Riola Xhemali scored an equaliser in the second minute of stoppage time. This meant Switzerland reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their history, thanks to their better goal difference than Finland.
This was the first time in Women’s Euros history where teams have swapped positions in stoppage time to decide who reaches the knockout phase.
What a noise! What a moment for Switzerland 🇨ðŸ‡

She broke the record by exactly one year, which was set by Vivianne Miedema in the Euro 2017 final.

At 38 years and 176 days old, she surpassed the previous record holder by a full year.

Attendance records set at Women’s Euro 2025 group stage
Record group stage attendance – 461, 582
In total, 461,582 fans attended the 24 group stage games at Women’s Euro 2025.
This broke the record previously set at Euro 2022, where 357,993 fans attended group stage games.
It appears likely that Switzerland will break the overall tournament attendance record also set in England at Euro 2022, which attracted 574,875 fans across the 31 games held.
Record crowd for Women’s Euros game not involving the hosts – 34,165 (Germany 2-1 Denmark)
Germany’s 2-1 win over Denmark is the fourth-highest attended game in Women’s Euros history.
The three games above the Euro 2025 clash, all featured hosts of prior tournaments.
England’s Euro 2022 final victory over Germany at Wembley Stadium holds the overall record, followed by their 1-0 group stage win over Austria at the same tournament.
The Euro 2013 final involving hosts Germany and Norway completes the top three.
