Tavistock Edge Seven-Goal Devon Cup Thriller

Tavistock sit second in the Devon League Premier Division but Buckland lead Division 1, scoring an incredible average of over 16 goals a game and it took them just seconds to go in front, as Sian Chapman got the opening goal.

Donna Hone brought Tavistock level after a defensive mix up and although Laura Gough cut in to loop home Buckland’s second goal, Becky Turner levelled the scores on 32 minutes when going through on goal to lob the keeper.

Six minutes later, Turner beat the offside trap to put Tavistock ahead for the first time.

Three minutes after the interval, Gough went round the goalkeeper to square the tie at 3-3.

Midway through the second half, there was close shaves at both ends, with a great block from Tavistock’s Robyn Hammond to deny Buckland a goal, then an equally good save by Zoe Stock in the Tavy goal.

The telling moment arived 20 minutes from the end, Player of the Match Hammond lashing the ball home from outside the box as a free kick was only partially cleared.

However, it took another excellent save by the Tavistock goalkeeper to palms away an effort on goal in the 86th minute.
