Switzerland star explains why 7-1 defeat to boys side is a ‘good thing’ ahead of Euro 2025

One of Switzerland’s superstars has explained why their 7-1 loss to an under-15’s boys side can be a positive thing ahead of Euro 2025 which gets underway next week.

The Switzerland women’s team played against FC Luzern’s Under-15 boys side this week in one of their final preparation games ahead of the upcoming Euros.

While the score was supposed to remain a secret, after one of the players posted some highlights on their TikTok page everyone found out that this summer’s Euros hosts lost 7-1.

The post was viewed over 70,000 times in the first couple of hours after it went live but it was quickly deleted by the player.

Swiss stars Alisha Lehmann and Alayah Pilgrim were both spotted in the highlights which means the team played one of their strongest squads in the pre-tournament game.

Lehmann was initially snubbed by her national team this summer but she was added as a late inclusion much to the relief of the Juventus star.

When 19-year-old Switzerland star, Leila Wandeler, was questioned about the loss to FC Luzern but she still insisted that there was positives to take from the performance.

“The result didn’t matter. For us, it was about testing our game principles. The training sessions are exhausting. But we all want to be in our best shape for this European Championship. That’s why I think it’s a good thing.”

The Euros are only a matter of days away now, with Switzerland kicking off the tournament in a Group A clash against Norway on July 2nd.

Before the tournament begins, Switzerland will play one more warm up game with their clash against the Czech Republic now becoming all the more important after the disappointing loss to FC Luzern’s Under-15’s.

Switzerland are currently 25/1 to win the Euros this year and 11/8 to top their group according to the best UK betting sites.
