#SWFL1 : Deveronvale help Dundee United Women close in on leaders

Deveronvale caused Scottish League Division 1 North leaders East Fife to lose for the first time as Dundee United closed in, Celtic Academy beat Rangers Development to take the South summit from Hibernian U-23s.

SWFL 1 NORTH – Deveronvale send leaders East Fife to first defeat

Tenth-placed Deveronvale pulled off a fine 4- 3 win over an East Fife side that had only previously been denied victory once.

Dundee United closed the gap on the leaders to two points with a 4-1 defeat of Dunfermline Athletic.

Three of the top four were beaten, as Westdyke won 5-2 over third-placed Inverness City with four goals from Julie Binnie and Cove Rangers gained ground on Aberdeen U-23s against whom they posted a 5-3 victory, aided by double for Sam McDonald and Fran Ogilvie.

Dee Ladies doubled their wins for the season with the best of seven goals at Buchan and Stirling University Development slipped to the bottom after going down to a 10-0 defeat at Raith with Alicia Paterson and Kerrie Dinnell both hitting hat-tricks for Rovers in from of a crowd of 120.

Celtic Academy replaced Hibernian U-23s as leaders after defeating Rangers Development 5-1.

Queens Park were awarded a 3-o result at Morton that lifted them into third place and Thistle Weir leapfrogged  Cumbernauld Colts having beaten them 3-0 away.

Blackburn United are three points short of ninth in the table Westerlands after edging them 3-2 on their travels.

Boroughmuir Thistle rose to eighth with a comprehensive 12-1 scoreline at lowly Falkirk.

Montrose narrowly overturn Stonehaven lead

Montrose went two goals ahead of former Division 2 North leaders Stonehaven after a 7-2 result at Ross County. Third-placed Moray got all the game’s five goals at Buckie, Turriff United and Buchan Youth shared eight goals, while Forfar Farmington DS were given a 3-0 walkover against Caithness.

There were crucial away wins for the leading pair in 2 West as top of the table Kilmarmock U-23s took the points 3-2 at third-placed United Glasgow and Ayr United came through 3-1 at Pollok United. St Mirren won 2-0 over Rutherglen and it was unlucky thirteen for Gleniffer Thistle, the number of straight defeats they have suffered with the 4-5 home reverse to Stranraer.

Airdrie extended their lead in 2 Central to seven points with a single-goal success over Stenhousemuir. Murieston United are just a point behind fourth-placed Motherwell Development after edging them in a seven-goal thriller. No goals though between Hawick United and Cumbernauld Colts Yellows but West Park United netted nine against  basement side Kilbride.

Spartans Development kept a three-point advantage at the top of 2 East with as many goals against Dryburgh Athletic, while Kelty Hearts had a walkover versus Lothian. Jeanfield Swifts Development took a decent point from a 3-3 tie at their Hearts counterparts and Edinburgh Caledonia hit double-figures against GOC Academy.
