Swansea Take Top Spot From Abergavenny

Sunday 18th December
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE

Abergavenny 0-1 Swansea City
Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-7 Cardiff Met
Cyncoed 4-0 Aberystwyth Town
Port Talbot Town 1-1 Llandudno

Jodie Passmore’s early goal proved to be the only one of the game, as Swansea City won at Abergavenny to replace them as Orchard Welsh Premier League leaders. Katy Hosford set up Passmore, as she scored for the fifth successive match. The Swans could have doubled their lead from the spot but a comfortable save was made by Grace Thomas-Parr.

Goals for winless Briton Ferry by Ela Roberts, Niamh Terry and Claudia Meyrick were all in vain, as Cardiff Met scored four second-half goals to run out 7-3 winners and move third in the league.

Cyncoed saw off Aberystwyth in the mid-table battle, in which Grace Horrell hit her first two goals for the club, Fern Burrage and Chloe Griffiths got one each. There was a debut for new signing Nicola Cousins, who has joined the Cardiff side from Yeovil during the FAWSL off season.

Port Talbot are still goal-difference ahead of Llandudno following their 1-1 draw. Jessica Hammett gave Town the lead just after half-time but the visitors replied through a Louisha Doran header on 81 minutes and then finished the game with ten players.

Meanwhile in the Welsh League, Barry Town United’s 8-0 win over Caerphilly Castle saw them replace Caldicot at the top.
