Northern Ireland drew 1-1 with Republic of Ireland on Day 2 of the SuperCupNI Girls’ U-16 Tournament in Newtownabbey.
The hosts had begun with a 2-0 win over USA side Northeast Rush on Monday but had to settle for a draw against their neighbours, for whom Heidi Mackin was on target.
Northern Ireland will play their third and last group game against Surf Select (USA/Canada) on Wednesday 27 July, with a 1.30pm kick off at Mossley Park.
The top two teams in the tables will play for the Fibrus SCNI Cup, with the next two competing for the Fibrus SCNI Globe and the bottom two competing for the Fibrus SCNI Vase.
The various finals in the girls’ section are due to be played on Friday. The Fibrus SCNI Cup final is set to be staged at Dixon Park in Ballyclare (2pm) with the Globe decider at Mossley Park (also at 2pm). The Vase final will also be played at Mossley Park that day (11.30am).
Meanwhile, in SuperCupNI’s first ever U-13 Girls’ competition, Linfield defeated Crusaders Strikers in the final.
Grace McAllister got two of Linfield’s goals, with one each for Cassie Henderson and Charlotte Havern.
