Sunderland have signed 18-year-old midfielder Keira Flannery on a season-long loan from West Ham United.

Capped by England up to U-19 level so far, Flannery made her West Ham first-team debut in 2022 against Chelsea.

She signed her first professional contract in January and went on loan to Reading, making 10 appearances for the Royals.

Head Coach Mel Reay told safc.com: “Keira joins us on a season-long loan from West Ham. We regard her as one of the best young midfielders in the Championship and we are excited to add her qualities to the squad.”

Flannery said: “I’m really happy, can’t wait to get started and I’m ready to hit the ground running. I really liked what Sunderland were pushing to do, the philosophy and how we wanted to play.”
