Ashleigh Hayes (pictured above) struck twice in each half as Stoke stunned Middlesbrough 5-1. Emily Scarr had levelled and Emma Kelly was denied a second equaliser after the break, before Kate Asher headed in a Potters’ corner and Hayes sent City out of sight.
Newcastle United 0-5 West Bromwich Albion
West Brom ran out 5-0 winners at basement side Newcastle, where Trina Greaves bundled in the opener and the hosts contributed an own goal before the interval. Leigh Dugmore added a brace, one of them from distance, with Abi Cottam rounded off the scoring.
Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Portsmouth
Tottenham retained a three-point lead at the top of the Southern when sending Portsmouth to a 4-0 defeat, with all goals incredibly coming in the first 18 minutes. Lucia Leon got the ball rolling, Kelley Blanchflower added two and Bianca Baptiste one.
Coventry United 6-0 CK Basildon
Coventry stay within three points of the leaders having put six past C&K Basildon. United were also off to a flying start, as Alison Hall netted twice and Helen Dermody a volley in the opening dozen minutes. Ashleigh Neville scored soon after the restart, Hall then completed her hat-trick and Amber Hughes made it 6-0.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Swindon Town
Gemma Bryan claimed all three goals as Crystal Palace sent Swindon home beaten 3-0. Twice finding the net in a 12-minute spell before half-time, Bryan got her third from a late penalty.
West Ham United 1-2 Queens Park Rangers
QPR banked their first win of the season, coming from behind at West Ham to go level with them on points. But stand-in keeper Rae Roberts spilled a long-range shot over the line before Elly Maggs levelled for Rangers. Jenny Critchley but them ahead on 5 minutes and the Hammers then had Hannah Wheeler sent off.
Midlands Division 1
Wolves won 2-0 at neighbours Sporting Khalsa to overtake them in the table and go within 6 points of leaders Loughborough Foxes, over whom they have 2 games in hand. Andrea Whetton’s early goal was eventually added to by Jade Cross. TNS are fourth after a 2-2 tie at Long Eaton, while Birmingham & West Midlands were 4-0 winners at Solihull, Jodie McDonagh, Justine Buckmire, Leah Sievwright and Maimee Morris all getting on the scoresheet.
Northern Division 1
Chorley missed the chance to go top, losing 1-0 at Liverpool Feds. Hull gained ground with a narrow 3-2 win at Tranmere, where Ellie Harding got one and Misty Russell two fro the Tigers. Mossley gained their fifth point of the season in a 1-1 draw at Crewe, Emma Lambourne’s goal for The Alex being swiftly cancelled out by the bottom side.
South East Division 1
Both AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons increased the pressure on top of the table Cambridge. The South Londoners won 4-1 at Ipswich, while their rivals posted a 2-0 result over Stevenage in which Heather McDonnell got both and Emma Kirby saved a penalty. Actonians also added 3 more points with the day’s top score at Lowestoft, 7-0. Kyla Love and Chelsea Garrett found the net as Norwich shared the points with Enfield.
South West Division 1
Chichester’s 5-0 success over Keynsham kept them in pole position, Sadie Blakely’s first-half effort added to by Jess Lewry, Cherelle Khassal and two from Molly Clark. Plymouth stayed a point behind after a 4-1 win at St Nicholas but had to come from behind with goals by Katie Middleton, Dani Salt and a Ezme Wells brace. Larkhall edged out Brislington 3-2 to climb to fourth.
FAWPL Plate
Lewes booked a Plate semi-final trip to Leicester City Women by sinking Luton 6-0. Despite the scoreline, Palmer’s curled 15th-minute free-kick was the only goal of the first half. Georgia Bridges doubled the lead from a Dani Lane cross, before there was a late flurry of goals, as Rebecca Carter hit a hat-trick and Kim Stenning go the other.
