Stoke City beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday to reach the FA Women’s National League Cup semi-finals.

Burnley conceded a free kick in the six-yard box seconds after the interval, Clarets’ keeper Naoisha McAloon picking up what was judged a backpass.

Having somehow kept the ball out from the close-range set piece they went behind not long after, when former Claret Millie Ravening fired a free kick into the top corner from over 30 yards out.

Lauren Bracewell turned away a half-volley from Naomi Hartley to protect the Potters’ lead, which they were to hold through to the conclusion.
