Stoke City Win FAWPL Reserve Midland Division

A crowd of 160 assembled at Norton United to see the top of the table clash, although it was third-placed reigning champions Leicester City Women whom the Potters still had to pip to the title.

While Leicester were doing all they could to stay in contention, by beating West Brom 4-2, the championship was decided as Stoke ran out 4-1 winners at home to Cardiff.

Alice Langstone made a fine stop to prevent the Welsh side taking the lead and after Emily Curteis hit the post, team-mate Rachel Ball opened the scoring a minute before the break.

Cardiff levelled 10 minutes into the second half but Stoke restored the lead they needed with Curteis netting from distance close to the hour mark.

Kerri Brown managed to score from her own half, before Ella Pemberton’s volley wrapped on 82 minutes up the title for a Stoke side who had been runners-up last season.
