Stirling University successfully defended their Scottish Women’s Premier League 2 status by defeating SWF Championship runners-up Rossvale.

Stirling’s Shana Macphail headed against the crossbar from a corner kick but from another flag-kick on the half-hour, Lucy Jackman’s delivery curled straight in past keeper Sarah Rhind.

Mariluz Sanchez should have doubled the lead before the break but fired wide after Rhind parried a cross.

Kaitlyn Caravan looked set to reply very early in the second half but Victoria Scarratt rushed out to deny her, the keeper later saving a Lauren Coleman header on the line.

Agonizingly for Caravan, her effort with eight minutes left came back off the bar, with the keeper still getting to her feet from an intervention moments before.

Rossvale were thwarted from close range in the tenth minute of stoppage-time, as Stirling held on for a 1-0 victory.
