We hear from Birmingham & West Midlands Police LFC, who are into their fourth season and are the only police force in England that has a dedicated league side, playing weekly.
We achieved promotion to the West Midlands League Premier Division in 2011-12 season, which was our fist season together, we also took a team to the 2011 World Police & Fire Service Games in New York, gaining a bronze medal.
The next two seasons proved challenging with players and backroom staff coming and going, however, this season the club is in a healthy position off the pitch, with a stable committee in place and having gained an excellent reputation as one of the best and well managed clubs in the West Midlands locality. This has lead to the signings of some excellent players with the added bonus of players returning from injury and maternity, we remain unbeaten this season, with 6 wins out of 6, scoring 37 and only conceding 5.
We are determined to win our second promotion in only four seasons and everything is fitting in place nicely on and off the pitch in order to do this. With the World Police & Fire Games due again in 2015, we are determined to better our bronze medal in this, ensuring we raise enough funds to enter.
With our promotion to the Midlands FAWPL and entry into the World Police & Fire Games our aim, we are looking for coaches who are at least qualified to level 2 and most importantly have effective communication and organisational skills. Our head coach needs support in bespoke positional coaching sessions, squad organisation and team selection. As well as coaches we require volunteers to work alongside our head coach and committee in several roles on match days and behind the scenes of the club.
