Leicester City WFC booked an SSE Women’s FA Cup 5th Round trip to Durham next Sunday, after ending Plymouth Argyle’s 22-game winning streak.
A crowd of over 200 turned out at the Devon FA County Ground in Newton Abbot but it was the visitors who opened the scoring.
Rosie Axten’s 13th-minute free kick was parried by Michaela Phillips and Charlotte Greengrass followed up to finish.
Argyle hit back 4 minutes into the second half, Zoe Cunningham’s shot hitting the inside of the post and Natasha Knapman on hand to slot home.
However, Leicester restored their advantage on the hour mark with Axten’s penalty and sealed their progress in the last minute through Leigh Dugmore.
Plymouth kept fighting though and Katie Middleton nodded in their second goal deep into injury time.
Revised 5th Round draw:
Arsenal v Millwall Lionesses
Cardiff City LFC v Charlton Athletic
Lewes v Everton
