A dramatic first-half on Wednesday evening at Cheshunt FC saw Spurs defeat Charlton 3-1.
But it was the Addicks who almost scored first, with Gemma Shepherd latching onto Kit Graham’s lay-off before crashing a curler against the crossbar.
However, Tottenham took the lead in the 17th minutes as Bianca Baptists picked up possession in a deep position and rushed through challenges before striking into the top corner.
Just 2 minutes later and Charlton were level, Avilla Bergin breaking through on goal and stretching to roll her attempt over the line.
A decisive two-minute spell came just after the half-hour mark, as Spurs struck twice.
Baptiste’s cross was headed home powerfully by Wendy Martin and then Kelley Blanchflower burst through to lob the ball over Kelly Cooper.
The Addicks keeper did prevent another before the break though, tipping over a shot across goal from Lucia Leon.
Graham had a dipping effort early in the second half but it fell wide of the right-hand post.
The FAWPL Southern Division title rivals will meet again in the league and in the final of the Capital Cup later this month, with the League Cup final back at Theobalds Lane in May.
