Spain Women qualify for Olympics for first time

Spain beat Netherlands 3-0 in the UEFA Women’s Nations League semi-finals to book their place at the Paris Olympics this summer.

The hosts struck twice close to the interval in Seville, Aitana Bonmati setting up Jennifer Hermoso to open the scoring, before netting the second herself from  a Mariona Caldentey cross.

Ona Batlle made sure of victory with the third goal 13 minutes from time, with Spain now meeting France in Wednesday’s final in Seville.

The Dutch can still also qualify for the Olympics by beating Germany in the third-place play off at Heerenveen on Wednesday.

Germany lost out to automatic qualifiers France 2-1, Kadidiatou Diani’s opener added to by a Sakina Karchaoui penalty, Guilia Gwinn replying from the spot with eight minutes to go.
