Southampton FC Women have signed 19-year-old forward Emma Thompson who had previously come through the ranks at Chelsea.
Joining the Chelsea Academy in 2016, she earned a professional contract last season on the back of 17 goals in 15 appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.
An England youth international, Thompson played for the Blues’ first team a number of times and had a spell on loan at Lewes last term.
Thompson told southamptonfc.com: “From my first few days being in, I knew it’s the place I wanted to be.
“I had such a warm welcome from all the players, all the staff, and that was a real positive for me.”
Head coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale said of her latest acquisition: “Emma is a young player who has a natural goal scoring talent.
“She’s mature beyond her years yet still with lots of potential, and we’re looking forward to her unlocking that with us.”
