Despite Chelsea’s disappointing recent form, Sonia Bompastor remains confident in her team’s chances in the Champions League.
The Blues continue their European campaign on Wednesday night as they host Paris FC at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea kicked off their Champions League journey with a disappointing 1-1 draw against FC Twente last week.
Sonia Bompastor’s team have now drawn two of their last three games but despite the uncharacteristically poor couple of weeks, Chelsea’s manager is still confident her team can go far in Europe.
“We want to compete as far as we can in every competition that we are involved in,” Bompastor said. “The Champions League is a special one because this is the biggest competition that you can play in as a club and it’s also the only trophy that is missing in this club. This is also the reason why it is so special for us.”

Despite winning the past six WSL titles, Chelsea are still yet to lift an elusive Champions League.
“The competition is getting harder and harder. We just need to focus on ourselves and I know that we have the quality to go far in the competition. Hopefully, we will show that on the pitch [against Paris FC].”
The reigning WSL champions did get back to winning ways over the weekend with an important return to form against Tottenham.
Once again Chelsea struggled in front of goal, but one was enough to secure all three points. Even with their dip in form Chelsea remain unbeaten in 31 WSL games.

Sonia Bompastor respects Champions League opposition
Following such a disappointing result in their opening matchday, a win on Wednesday against Paris FC is vital for Chelsea.
“I know Paris FC really well, I know the players and I know the coach and they’ve progressed really well,” Bompastor said. “They made a big decision this summer bringing in new investors and investing even more money. The project that they have there is really good for the women’s team and every year they are making progress.
“We are expecting them to be a strong side. When teams are coming and facing Chelsea, they have that extra motivation, so it will be a tough game. They have really good individuals and they play well as a team. We also have a good team and we are confident going into the game.”
Paris FC also drew their first game in Europe this season with their point coming against Belgian opposition Oud-Heverlee Leuven.
Chelsea come into Wednesday’s game as considerable favourites and anything but a win would surely disappoint Sonia Bompastor and co.
