Six Sides Join Expanded Southern League

Shanklin withdrew from the FAWPL near the end of last season but have been given permission to play in the Premier Division.

All the top four teams from the Hampshire League make the move up: Southampton Women Reserves, Eastleigh, AFC Bournemouth and Warsash Wasps, while Benson Lionesses come in from the Thames Valley Counties, where they finished just a couple of goals short of champions Oxford City Development.

Southern League winners Southampton Women were promoted to the FAWPL, while Bracknell Town dropped into Division 1 North.

New Milton Town took the 1st Division championship and are followed up by Ascot United.

The competition will feature a total of 24 teams, 10 in the Premier and 7 each in Division 1 North and South, where sides will play each other 3 times.

The league season starts on Sunday 3rd September 2017.
