Six Players Commit To Chelsea

Last season’s Players’ Player of the Year, Millie Bright (pictured above left), has signed an extension which keeps her at the club until May 2020.

Hannah Blundell (above right), who came up through the club’s Centre of Excellence, has a new deal until May 2019, and goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer has extended until the same month in 2018.

Young players Jodie Brett, Millie Farrow and Fran Kitching all have new deals until the end of the Spring Series.

Last season, Bright further established herself as one of the top players in the FA Women’s Super League and she was rewarded for her consistency in a variety of positions with her first caps for England.

‘It’s an honour to sign such a lengthy contract with Chelsea,’ she told chelseafc.com. ‘I’m proud to do that and it’s pleasing to know the club wants me here for that length of time.

‘I want to continue being a key part of the team and bringing everything I can to it.

‘With the success we’ve had the last two seasons and, moving forward, with the new signings we’ve brought in, it’s exciting to push ourselves.’

Blundell has been the club’s regular right-back since breaking into the first team in 2013, early in Emma Hayes’s managerial reign. She was part of the double-winning side just over a year ago, the same season in which she shared the Young Player of the Year award with Bright.

‘With the plans Chelsea have got going forward, I’m just so excited to be part of it,’ she said. ‘I’m happy they’re investing in me now as a young player and I’m looking forward to moving forward with Chelsea.’
