Southampton boss Simon Parker has been named manager of the month for the WSL2 after back to back wins in October.
The Saints boss was handed the award for just the second time – his first with Southampton.
Southampton’s perfect October
There was no problems for Southampton in October with two wins from two in the league. The Saints breezed past Birmingham and local rivals Portsmouth this month.
A win against Birmingham was Southampton’s most important of the season so far, with the Blues sitting just above them in the Championship.
The three points got Southampton back in the title race and to within two points of Birmingham.
It was important to follow up the Birmingham win with three points and Simon Parker’s team duly obliged in a 1-0 win over Portsmouth.
Southampton was the only club in WSL2 to win both of their fixtures in October which earned Parker his manager of the month award.

The Saints boss credited his team after picking up the award: “It’s great. It’s really nice to win it, especially coming into a new club, but it’s really nice for the team,” he said.
“It’s more of a reflection of team of the month. Personally, it’s always nice to be acknowledged when the team is doing well.”
Southampton’s Jess Simpson was up for player of the month in October, but was just beat to the award by Charlton defender Jodie Hutton.
What next for Southampton?
The Saints have an interesting fixture schedule following the international break.
Parker’s side face Nottingham Forest when they return and although the Reds are struggling at the bottom of the table, they could still pose a threat to Southampton’s good recent run.
After Forest things get much harder for the Saints who face WSL2 league leaders Charlton.
While they are still unbeaten this season, Charlton are just three points ahead of Southampton. The Saints will have to win against Addicks if they are going to stand a chance of winning the Championship this year.
