Well done to Sheffield’s Melissa Johnson, recipient of WSL 2’s January Player of the Month Award.
The former Derby County Ladies star has been one of the key players in the Sheffield FC set up this season as her side have looked to edge their way out of the bottom half of the table and was instrumental in securing valuable points in their FA WSL 2 fixture against Tottenham, scoring a hat-trick in the seven-goal thriller.
Also shortlisted for their performances in January were Millwall Lionesses’ Charlie Devlin and Doncaster Belles’ Kirsty Hanson.
On receiving the award, Sheffield’s Melissa Johnson said, “I feel I’ve settled in well since joining the club in the summer and continue to grow in confidence. I was really pleased with my first half hat-trick against Tottenham – it’s not every day that happens, we need to be doing that in every game at this level!”
