Sheffield United Women sign Maddy Earl on loan from Arsenal

Arsenal's Maddy Earl signs on loan for Sheffield United

Sheffield United have signed young attacking Arsenal midfielder Maddy Earl on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

She spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Bristol City, making seven appearances in all competitions, before signing her first professional contract with the Gunners earlier this month.

Earl is a regular in the England youth teams and in May 2024 helped Arsenal’s U-21s win the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup in Zurich, with Earl winning the Adidas Golden Ball award for best player.

The teenager travelled with the Gunners on their end of season tour to Australia, earning several first team minutes, as well as their pre-season tour to the USA.

Earl said: “I’m really looking forward to getting going. It’s obviously a really important time of year, every game is worth points and I can’t wait to get started.”

Head coach Ash Thompson commented: “Maddy is someone we’ve been really keen to bring in for the second half of the season, so naturally we’re delighted to get it over the line, and we thank Arsenal for allowing her to join us for the remaining nine games of the season.

“She’s a technically very gifted footballer who we think can make a real difference to our attack, and we’re looking forward to working with her for the remainder of the campaign.”
