She Kicks Back – Vicki Hutchinson (Norton & Stockton Ancients)

Voted the current North East League table-toppers ‘Gobbiest Player’ last year.

1. Name: Vicki Hutchinson

2. Age (D.O.B): 23 (15.11.90)

3. Team: Norton & Stockton Ancients FC

4. Position (and have you always played there)? Centre midfield. I’ve only played there for the last two seasons, I used to be a centre half.

5. Team Supporter/Fave player? Sunderland season ticket holder. Favourite player at the moment would be Phil Bardsley but of all time, definitely super Kevin Phillips!

6. Occupation/or what you are studying?: Community sports coach for Hartlepool United and at Durham University training to be a primary school teacher.

7. Are there other footballers in your family? My uncle, Colin Beesley, won the FA Youth Cup with Sunderland

8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)?: We played Castleford away in the league this season and we were 2-0 down at half time. We were very poor first half but turned it around second half and came out fighting. I scored a volley and a free kick in the last 20 minutes to get us a point.

9. Your best attribute as a player?: Definitely tackling!

10. What are your ambitions in football?: I’ve won a number of trophies as a footballer but have never won the Durham FA County Cup so I’d say winning that is probably my biggest ambition in football. We’re in the quarter finals this season, so fingers crossed.

11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career?: I would have said my parents as I was growing up, they went to every game home and away. They even used to drive to the away matches in places like Warwick and Stockport when I was at Middlesbrough Centre of Excellence. The biggest influence on my football career now is probably my fiance Chris, he watches most of my games and makes sure I know when I’m not playing very well! He’s also a qualified football coach and coaches our U-15 girls as well as putting training sessions on for the ladies team.

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team?: We have a great team spirit and everyone gets on really well both on and off the field. Also, our manager Mick Mulligan is such a good person to have in charge of your team. He is the club chairman and runs the ladies team on his own.

13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? Red and white stripes – obviously!!

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? Sadly. Jenna Plews is in charge of the music so we usually end up listening to old rock music (I think!) like the Rolling Stones and stuff like that!

15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why? Definitely Bianca ‘B-Dog’ Owens, although she talks that much nonsense you never know what’s true and what’s not. She told us her dog died a few weeks ago but then we saw her walking it last week!
