1. Name: Rachel Palmer
2. Age (D.O.B): 20 Years old (23.02.1993)
3. Team: Lewes LFC
4. Position (and have you always played there)? I currently play centre back, which became a new position for me only last season, having played a left fullback role for many seasons before.
5. Team Supporter/Fave player? I support Manchester Utd mainly due to the influence of my family! My favourite player is Michael Carrick, I feel he is very underated!
6. Occupation/or what you are studying? I am currently in my third year at university studying sport and exercise science, whilst working part time in a gym at a country club.
7. Are there other footballers in your family? My cousin used to play a lot until he got an ankle injury which put a stop on his career. And my brother plays 6 aside football but that’s as far as the football talent goes in my family!
8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? This is a tough one, but I have to go with last season when I was playing for my previous club – Chelsea Ladies reserves, we beat Everton away in the league cup semi final. It was such a great team performance and reaching the final hadn’t been done in that competition for a couple of years so as a squad it was a great achievement for us.
9. Your best attribute as a player? As a player I feel my best attribute is my ability to read the game which is helpful as unfortunately I don’t have the gift of pace so it comes in handy at times!
10. What are your ambitions in football? To play at the highest level I possibly can and to keep improving as a player.
11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career? The person who still is and has been the biggest influence on my career has got to go to my mum , anybody I have ever played with knows how dedicated and supportive she is to my football and without her I wouldn’t be where I was today!
12. What is the best thing about playing for your team? This is my first season playing with Lewes LFC having only been here for a couple of months but they have all made me feel really welcome with every player and coaching staff putting in 100% all the time which is a lovely environment to be in!
13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? I love anything purple so it would have to be a purple kit I’m afraid, not sure how well that would go down though!
14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? Every Sunday on the way to a match I have to have my Ipod in, at the moment my favourite motivating song is Imagine Dragons – Its time.
15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why? Kelly Newton, she has captained the team since 2003 and is one of the most respected captains I’ve ever played under.
