She Kicks Back – Rachael White (Brighouse Town LFC)

She’s nearly six foot tall and aims to take Brighouse Town to the heights. So far they’re unbeaten this year in the North East League Division 1 South.

1. Name: Rachael White

2. Age (DO.B): 25 (08/09/1988)

3. Team: Brighouse Town

4. Position (and have you always played there)? Attacking Midfield / Striker

5. Team Supporter/Fave player? Arsenal, Freddie Ljungberg or Dennis Bergkamp

6. Occupation/or what you are studying? I work for British Gas

7. Are there other footballers in your family? No

8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? Playing for Guiseley Ladies against Scunthorpe United away, we only had 10 players against their squad of 11 plus 3 subs but we won the game 2-1. Proof that if you all work for each other, you can gain a result.

9. Your best attribute as a player? A good first touch and eye for goal, although my team-mates would say my unique style of running is special!

10. What are your ambitions in football? To get Brighouse Town into the highest league possible.

11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career? I’ve always had a love of football but only joined a team in 2008, so I’d say my best friend and team mate Yasmin Ayub, she’s also a football coach and always gives me hints and tips on how to improve my game.

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team? We have a fantastic coach and team spirit, we all work for each other and all have the same goal to be as successful as possible. there’s also the fun side to the team, but the main thing is to achieve. Happy players make good players.

13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? Being almost 6ft tall, it’d definitely need long basketball style shorts, I hate having to wear my shorts low so that they at least get to near my knees! Would also need to make sure it doesn’t clash with my boots!

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? Well the coach likes to throw on some examples of dance tunes to get us in the mood. However, me and my best mate have our own R ‘n’ B play list to get us going! Can’t beat a bit of ja rule and kano on the journey there!

15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why? Yasmin Ayub, fantastic player, should be playing in a much higher league.
