She Kicks Back – Louise Yu (Chobham Burymead LFC)

Her commitment and enthusiasm to better her own personal performances has helped her team to the top of the Greater London League Division 2 South. She is also a techno geek and spends hours editing videos which are recorded by her Father each game.

1. Name: Louise Yu

2. Age (DOB): 18 (06/05/1996)

3. Team: Chobham Burymead LFC

4. Position (have you always played there?): Goalkeeper (since I was 10 years old)

5. Favourite player: Manuel Neuer – just incredible

6. Occupation: Currently a college student but hoping to go to university next year!

7. Are there any footballers in your family?: My Dad who used to play football in his teenage years

8. Favourite game played in by you and why?: The Sue Sharples Memorial Trophy final last year against Victoire because it was very intense until the final whistle; our excellent team-work lead us to a satisfying and glorious win!

9. Your best attribute as a player?: I am the only person who wears goggles during a football gam!

10. What are your ambitions in football?: To win the league and to work towards being a dependable goalkeeper who defenders can trust and rely on

11. Who has been the biggest influence on your footballing career?: Definitely my Father who seems to find ways of teaching me life-related skills through a game of football.

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team?:  Being valued and being supported by our managers, family and team players during the good and bad times. Being able to celebrate our well-earned wins with the entire squad

13. If you got to design your club’s kit, what would it look like?: So far I’m pleased with our kit but it could be a size smaller, so it’s not big and baggy!

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks?: Any music, songs that are currently in the charts. As long as we have speakers, it’s all good.

15. Who, that plays in your team should we know more about, and why? Kelly Rideout, our skipper, she’s consistently reliable in every single match and always encourages me and the team to work hard and play hard.
